Peyton Rose Michelle is serving as the first Executive Director and the Board Secretary of the Louisiana Trans Advocates. She has become the first openly trans woman elected to political office in Louisiana (that is, she is the first openly trans woman who was out as trans at the time of her election). Peyton speaks in her oral history about her political duties both as a citizen and an elected official, the hardships she faced as a trans woman both before and after coming out, and her work as an activist. She explains her role in blocking anti-trans legislation in Louisiana and the work still to be done to block future efforts against transgender people.
